louise
After growing up and studying in England (BEd Hons, University of Nottingham), I taught at a primary school for five years. In 1994, this was brought to an end by a relocation to Germany, where I spent the first few years teaching English as a foreign language. In my new home country, I discovered my interest in and talent for translating and left teaching behind to work full time in the profession I love.
I have lived in Germany since I was 28 and am now a proud holder of both UK and German citizenships. Being totally integrated into everyday life in my chosen home enables me to fully understand the subtleties of the source documents and transform them into top-quality English texts that read as originals, not as translations.
My enthusiasm for and dedication to the profession mean I go the extra mile. I enjoy the challenge of researching until I find exactly the right terminology in each particular context. As every client and every project has a unique “language” and different end customers, I derive genuine pleasure from producing texts that reflect the intentions and the corporate image of the client.
I also take part in training courses to keep me up-to-date with software and trends in the translation industry. I have recently been awarded the "Rechtssprache für Übersetzer und Dolmetscher" certificate for legal German (with the grade "very good") and German language C2 from the Goethe Institut. My love of reading a wide range of literature in both languages ensures an extensive vocabulary and the ability to switch style depending on context. An interest in current affairs helps me to use up-to-the-minute terminology in this rapidly changing world.
